TLV320AIC3120EVM-U: TLV320AIC3120EVM-U External Mic Interacing

Part Number: TLV320AIC3120EVM-U

In case we want to interface an external microphone with Evalboard

There are 2 approaches

approach 1: Power the mic separately and connect the mic Line to the left of C18.

approach 2: Put jumper on W3 and use mic bias to bias/power the mic pin.

Which option is preferred/suitable and why?

  • Hi Nikhil,

The MICBIAS route in general is preferred because the voltage generated is already low noise and saves layout space. MICBIAS can also be programmed to 2V, 2.5V or AVDD to suite your microphone's specifications.

    Best regards,

    Jeff
