TLV320AIC3111: Basic code generation and working without miniDSP

I just started using TLV320AIC3111 and want to know few things

Is there some basic register configuration code available for reference which captures ADC data or send only DAC data?
Is it necessary to use miniDSP or what value to set in case we don't want to use miniDSP. Functional block diagram shows miniDSP connected in series to output and no provision to bypass it.

3. In PurePath studio it shows 2x inter 1x decimate etc. what do they mean and when to use which one?

4. I want to get ADC data and send data to DAC. While generating code from PurePath, it shows following error. I couldn't get any block as miniDSP_A. Where can I find it?

Hi,

You don't need to use PPS or miniDSP.

You can use the GUI and it has the init script which has the the basic configuration as described in the user guide below.

I tried generating code through SLAU Codec Control software.

It shows the initializing script I was looking for but it doesn't change the values.

I have TLV320AIC3111 codec connected to my custom PCB and not the TLV320AIC3111-EVM board.

I changed the Class D speaker driver value to 6dB but the value in init script is as default. Also for other parameters like ADC sample rate aren't modified as per what I set.

Following are the questions I have now

Do we need EVM board to generate the script values?
I can modify the values taking reference from default values, is there some software through which we can change values and generate code or I am doing something wrong?

Hi,

The init script provides the configuration you are asking, but to configure the device with this script you need the EVM.

This script is just executing the I2C write command listed there, so you can copy the registers and executing the I2C transactions on your system.

To confirm your write statement, you can read back at the same address and you don't need the GUI either.
