TPA3255: Desired Phase of Input & Possibility to have Split supply

Part Number: TPA3255

Hi Expert,

Can the TPA3255 be connected to a +/- 25V max split voltage supply and if so, how do I create a ground reference to connect the TPA3255 to a signal source that swings +/- 3V ?

For the 2nd query, are there a proper input signals (in-phase or 180-degree out-of-phase) for a single channel (InputA and InputB) to achieve the BTL stereo mode operation?

Thank you

Regard,

Josel Go

  • Hi Joselito.

    About your questions.

Can the TPA3255 be connected to a +/- 25V max split voltage supply and if so, how do I create a ground reference to connect the TPA3255 to a signal source that swings +/- 3V ?

A: TPA3255 is a single power supply device, you can refer to the following picture.

For the 2nd query, are there a proper input signals (in-phase or 180-degree out-of-phase) for a single channel (InputA and InputB) to achieve the BTL stereo mode operation?

A: Stereo generally refers to left and right channel or multi-channel output, TPA3255 supports left and right channel stereo output. The input of the left and right channels needs to be processed externally and then connected to the power amplifier. Our amplifier does not support mono to stereo conversion if the input is mono.

  • Hi Wei,

    Thank you for your response.

Do inputs InputA and InputB need to be in phase or 180 out of phase to achieve the BTL stereo mode operation?

    Thank you

    Regard,

    Josel Go

  • Hi Joselito.

You can take the application circuit below as a reference.

Input A&B is one channel, and Input C&D is another channel.

Do inputs InputA and InputB need to be in phase or 180 out of phase to achieve the BTL stereo mode operation?

There is no need to do any processing when input sound source.

The input audio source is stereo, and the output of the amplifier is stereo.

The realization from mono to stereo is realized before the input of the external audio source instead of relying on the power amplifier.
