TPA6139A2: -Vss voltage inside TPA6139A2

Part Number: TPA6139A2

Hello,

It is simple question, what is internal negative voltage -Vss?

We want to know it to expect maximum output signal voltage swing, but there is no specification of -Vss on the datasheet.

Regards,

Mochizuki

  • Hi Mochizuki-san,

-VSS voltage follows the same voltage level as VDD but negative, eg. VSS = -3.3V for VDD = 3.3V, VSS = -2.8V for VDD = 2.8V, and so on.

  • Hi Ivan,

    Thank you for your comment.

Because of Absolute maximum input signal voltage specified as -Vss-0.3V.

However -Vss volage range is not show up on the datasheet.

If Vdd is 3.3V, maximum input signal voltage can be +3.6V to -3.6V. Is this correct understanding?

Is there any plan to add specification of -Vss voltage range on the datasheet?

Additional question is that common-mode input voltage specification.

Is this about which pin's specification?

TPA6139A2 input pin is SE mode with DC blocking cap, so this specification might be another pin.

    Regards,

    Mochizuki

  • Mochizuki-san,

Your understanding about abs max and VSS relationship is correct. I'm not aware of any updates planned for this document but we can consider it in the next revision.

Regarding common-mode input, the +/-2V spec is actually for the analog inputs. What this spec means is basically that if input signal goes above/below +/-2V it may start clipping at the input, causing clipping at the output as well even if output is within VDD-VSS range.
