TAS2557EVM: How to run internal DSP for using protection algorithm by PPC3.

Part Number: TAS2557EVM

Dear TI,

We have TAS2557EVM Board and we use PPC3 for controlling it.

In the "Test and Measurement" in PPC3, We can only select Rom Mode1 or Rom Mode2.

Below is my simple questions.

1. Can we use DSP speaker protection algorithm using PPC3?

(We'd like to select Smart Amp Mode (and using DSP speaker protection algorithm) , not Rom Mode 1 and 2.)

2. Can we enable or disable pilot tone?

3. if question2 is yes, can we control pilot tone on all device processing Modes(Rom Mode1 , Rom Mode2, and Smart Amp Mode)?

Thanks,

SeungKyu Joo

  • Hi SeungKyu ,

    Some comments below:

    1. In order to run the device in smart amp mode, you should access the Tuning and Audio processing panel, not the Test and Measurement one.
    2. Pilot tone is required for the device to get the IV-sense feedback from the speaker. The device can be configured in Feedforward protection only which disables the pilot tone and runs a conservative variation of the protection algo without real-time IV-sense feedback.
    3. Pilot tone is not present in ROM modes, please refer to Q2 above regarding pilot tone in smart amp mode.
