TLV320ADC3120: About the programmable filter

Part Number: TLV320ADC3120
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM1821, PCM1820, TLV320ADC5120, TLV320ADC6120

Hi experts,

My customer is interested in PCM1821 or PCM1820 for his headphone system because it is controlled by pin control. But he is also interested in TLV320ADC3120. My customer referred to "5 device Comparison table" in the datasheet of TLV320ADC3120.

1. Could you please tell me the difference between PCM1821/PCM1820 and TLV320ADC3120/TLV320ADC5120/TLV320ADC6120 without comparison table?

In the datasheet of TLV320ADC3120, it is written that the programmable digital filter is embedded.

2. Could you teach me the design flow of the programmable digital filter? Do we write the program file directly to these devices? or Do we select a preset by controlling these devices from an external device via I2C communication?

Best regards,

Shunsuke Yamamoto

  • The PCM1820/PCM1821 are Hardware Controlled devices and the TLV320X120 Family is I2C Controlled devices. The Table describes the different features of all the devices/

Different Kind of Filters can be setup using the PurePath Console tool. In general a GUI can be used to setup the desired filter characteristic as a Amplitude vs Frequency Response, The Tool then provides a Listing of I2C Settings that can be Loaded into The ADC.
