TAS5825MEVM: Connecting to external hardware with PPC3

Part Number: TAS5825MEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5825M

Hello,

I am using the PPC3 interface and motherboard along with the TAS5825MEVM and I am trying to connect to my Prototype PCBA's. The I2C address of the TAS5825M on my PCBA is set to 9C. I have made connections to the I2C bus and the I2S bus. I am having difficulty getting the system to pass audio from the PPC3 to my board. I had it working at one point but soon after I was no longer able to make it work. I have 5 boards to be tested. The first 4 seemed to connect and pass audio just fine but when I tested the 5th board I was not able to get it to work. Assuming that the last board may be bad, I attempted to re-test one of the first 4 that had already worked and now I can't get any of the 5 boards to connect and pass audio. Nothing has changed that I am aware of in the configuration or setup during this process. I would appreciate any help in troubleshooting this problem.

Best regards, Jim Albert

  • Hi

    thank you for your questions.

you i2c still work, am i understanding right?

can you read below register to confirm what kind of error happen?

    register 0x68, 0x70, 71, 72, 73.

BTW, can you check the i2s signal, does it been generated by EVM normally.

and just in case, does the GND for i2s been connected right between mother board and your prototype board.

    thanks.

  • Jesse,

I have my scope on the i2C and I2S and everything is present and working. There is a good ground connection from the PPC3/TAS5825EVM to my PCBA as well. I am powering the complete system from a common 24V power supply; so all of the hardware is using this power supply.

I have a screen shot of the register map for your reference...

Let me know if I can provide any other information.

    Thanks,

    Jim Albert

  • Jesse,

I was able to connect to my PCBA's this morning. Now, everything seems OK. I don't know why I had trouble before the weekend but my problem seems to be resolved. Maybe user error with the PPC3 console application? Not sure, but it's OK now.

    Best regards,
