TPA3220: OUT1 jump up when reset

Part Number: TPA3220

Hi team,

My customer found the behavior that TPA3220 output jump up when it is reset.

This is not only 1 product but all product they have, thus it should be product specification.

Please refer to the attached image. Red circle shows the jumping up on OUT1_P.

Do you have an insight on this behavior?

And, do you have any idea that can prevent this?

Best regards,

Yuto

  • Hi Yuto

       There's something unclear to us.

    1. In the picture, what is the ch1/ch2/ch3 means. This device seems can't RESET or CMUTE each channel separately, need to control them together. So not sure what is this picture shows.

    2. The waveform seems quite strange, it doesn't looks like the output voltage. Please let us know in details what position to capture this waveform.

  • Hi Shadow,

    1. As picture shows, ch1: OUT1_P, ch2: RESET, ch3: CMUTE. And ch2/ch3 are controlled together.

    2. why do you think the waveform is strange?

The picture shows that when IC resets, output voltage is overshoot.

and what customer want to ask is that is this behavior is normal? and do you have any way to prevent it?

    Best regards,

    Yuto

  • Hi Yuto

If the oscilloscope channel is as you described, there's 3 point abnormal, I marked as below picture.

    1. At position1, as they pulled low RESET and CMUTE, why there's a voltage at the output side. It should be HiZ state at the output.

    2. At positoin2, release the RESET and CMUTE, as they said the audio playing, why there's no voltage at the output at all? No DC bias, also no sinewave or PWM.

    3. At position3, seems they pulled low for a very short time, why there's voltage at output again? Also why at this position, the voltage is much higher than position1?

We need to know in details how they test out this waveform, and which position they tested. It looks too strange to us.

  • Hi Shadow,

I got further information from the customer. let us move to internal discussion via email cause it is public forum.

    Best regards,

    Yuto

  • Hi Yuto
