TPA2012D2: Measuring power level for Class D amplifier

Part Number: TPA2012D2

Hi Team,

I would like to check with you how should we measure the power level for class D amplifier?

I understand that there is a training video on precision lab to teach measuring class D audio amplifier (Measuring Class-D Audio Performance | TI.com Video) , however the analyzer software (APx500) shown in this software is a paid software.

Is there any free method to measure the class D amplifier?

Many Thanks!

  • Hi Ernest,

If AP software and hardware is not available on your side for measurement, you may measure voltage instead with a scope or multimeter, then use the electric power formula P = V^2 / R. You should still use the same filter and other connections and just replace AP with the equipment to measure voltage.
