TPA3255EVM: Output protection

Part Number: TPA3255EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3255,

Our customer plans to use TPA3255 to drive DC motor; Motor parameters: power supply voltage is 24V, and the current is about 2A during normal operation. At present, TPA3255EVM is used for the preliminary evaluation test. The TPA3255EVM output is a DC motor. The test found that when the input voltage (the voltage difference between INPUT_A and INPUT_B) is above 2V, the motor can operate normally. When the input voltage is below 2V, the chip is in the protection state and there is no output voltage. Can you provide the reference scheme or relevant data of TPA3255 to drive the direct motor? In addition, what suggestions can be shared with customers? Is there a more appropriate model to recommend to customers?

  • Hi Yang

I need more information about this issue

Could you please share your schematic that I can check if your use of TPA3255 is correct.

You mentioned when the input voltage is below 2V, the chip is in the protection state, you can measured the voltage of FAULT and CLIP_OTW pin to check which error is happened.

There is no output voltage---dose you mean the amplifier is no output or you mean there is no output of motor, you can try to disconnect the motor and measured if there is output PWM of TPA3255
