TLV320AIC3204: TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF PIN Internal Status

Part Number: TLV320AIC3204

Dear Sir:

Regarding the TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF PIN internal Status

When the TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF(no power supply).

Which the following the 3 Pins internal status of RESET\(Pin31), SCL/SSZ(Pin9), and SDA/MOSI(Pin10)?

1.Pull Up Resistor to VCC Power.

2.Pull Down Resistor to GND.

3.High impedance: Open.

Please check to reply it asap.

Thanks

  • Hi.

    1. RESET pin, as active low meaning when no power is supplied there is a hardware reset applied to device. At power up you should pull high.

    2. SCL/SDA pin functionality is determined by SPI_SELECT but requires a pull up to IOVDD.

A good reference is EVM circuit in user guide (https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau266a/slau266a.pdf?ts=1673645946197&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FTLV320AIC3204) pg 32

  • Dear Sir:

It is not IC power on the pin application.

We ask IC no power supply the pin internal status.

IOVDD and DVDD=0V,The IC pin internal status

When the TLV320AIC3204 no power supply,IOVDD and DVDD=0V

Which the following the 3 Pins internal status of RESET\(Pin31), SCL/SSZ(Pin9), and SDA/MOSI(Pin10)?

1.Pin internal connects Pull Up Resistor to VCC Power.

2.Pin internal connects Pull Down Resistor to GND.

3.Pin internal High impedance is Open.

Please check to reply it asap.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I'm out of office today for US holiday, please be patient as responses are delayed.

I will confirm with CODEC expert tomorrow to determine if pins have internal logic.

  • Hi,

Please reference power supply sequencing for AIC3204 here: https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa492a/slaa492a.pdf?ts=1674085036823

The status of digital pins with power off is unknown, then once power is supplied in sequence shown below the RESET pin can be driven high and I2C bus can provide clock to SCL/SDA.

RESET & SCL/SDA is open drain, it requires external source to have status.

  • Dear Sir:

The 3 Pins internal of RESET\(Pin31), SCL/SSZ(Pin9), and SDA/MOSI(Pin10) are open drain at TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF.

The 3 Pins internal of RESET\(Pin31), SCL/SSZ(Pin9) require external source to have status.

    Is it correct?

Please check to reply it asap.

    Thanks

  • Dear Sir:

The 3 Pins internal of RESET\(Pin31), SCL/SSZ(Pin9), and SDA/MOSI(Pin10) are open drain at TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF as the below picture.

The 3 Pins internal of RESET\(Pin31), SCL/SSZ(Pin9) require external source to have status.

1.RESET\(Pin31) Open drain : One pin connects to the Pin of RESET\(Pin31), The other pin GND connects to the IC internal GND.

2.SCL/SSZ(Pin9) Open drain : One pin connects to the Pin of SCL/SSZ(Pin9), The other pin GND connects to the IC internal GND.

    3. SDA/MOSI(Pin10) Open drain : One pin connects to the Pin of SDA/MOSI(Pin10), The other pin GND connects to the IC internal GND.

Are the above 3 items correct?

Please check to reply us asap.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hi,

I2C/SPI bus is configured as 2-wire open drain interface, details of the status of the pin is detailed in 9.3.8.1 of d/s. and more information on open drain for I2C bus can be found in this app note:https://www.ti.com/lit/slva704

RESET pin is open drain but must be actively driven low or high for proper function. An explicit illustration of how its configured in IC is not available.

    Regards,

  • Dear Sir:

The 3 Pins internal of RESET\(Pin31), SCL/SSZ(Pin9), and SDA/MOSI(Pin10) are open drain at TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF.

The 3 Pins internal of RESET\(Pin31), SCL/SSZ(Pin9), and SDA/MOSI(Pin10) require external source to have status.

    When the RESET\(Pin31), SCL/SSZ(Pin9), and SDA/MOSI(Pin10) are High(3.3V) at TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF.

    It wouldn’t damage the part.

    Is it correct?

Please check to reply it asap.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Vincent,

It may damage the part. RESET(31) can not be high before proper power supply sequencing. Please see previous reply for proper sequencing and reference app note.

SCL/SDA (9/10) should be pulled up to IOVDD, but being pulled high at power off should not damage the part or interrupt proper operation.

    Regards,

  • Dear Sir:

The Pin internal of RESET\(Pin31) is open drain at TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF (P3V3_CODEC).

The Pin internal of RESET\(Pin31) requires external source to have status.

RESET\(Pin31) is pulled up to IOVDD(P3V3_CODEC).

[ The same as SCL/SSZ(Pin9) and SDA/MOSI(Pin10) are pulled up to IOVDD ]

When the RESET\(Pin31) is pulled Low > 10ns at TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF(P3V3_CODEC) as the below picture.

    It wouldn’t damage the part.

    Is it correct?

Please check to reply it asap.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Vincent,

    Apologies for the delay.

When the RESET\(Pin31) is pulled Low > 10ns at TLV320AIC3204 Power OFF(P3V3_CODEC) as the below picture.

    It wouldn’t damage the part.

No, it will not damage the part. RESET must be pulled down for at least 10ns to ensure that power supplies have stabilized.

  • Hi,

RESET\(Pin31) is the same as SCL/SSZ(Pin9) and SDA/MOSI(Pin10) are pulled up to IOVDD.

    Correct.

RESET\(Pin31) is pulled up to IOVDD(P3V3_CODEC). being pulled high at TLV320AIC3204 power off wouldn’t damage the part

Most likely will not damage the part, however we recommend to follow proper power supply sequencing for proper operation.
