Hi Experts,

We need your advise and confirmation whether both IC (LM4861M/NOPB & LM4876M/NOPB) can be operated in closed/open loop gain? Our customer is driving 1W,8ohm speaker using LM4861M/NOPB currently in his design. Can he replace LM4876M/NOPB, instead of LM4861M/NOPB?

    Hi Gerald,

    The internal bias and gain resistors are not the same across these devices, but the overall functionality is still the same. Customer can replace LM4861 with LM4876, just take into consideration that shutdown logic is inverted:

    • LM4861 will enter shutdown when pin 1 = Hi
    • LM4876 will enter shutdown when pin 1 = Lo
