PUREPATH-CMBEVM: How do I enable SPDIF (OPTO-OUT) on a PurePath Console motherboard

I have a PUREPATH-CMBEVM with TAS5825MEVM and a separate TAS5825PEVM board. I'd like to connect the two setups using an optical cable.

Ideally, the PUREPATH-CMBEVM with TAS5825MEVM setup should use USB as audio source, the digital audio looped back to the OPTO-OUT connector, from there an optical cable would connect to the OPTO-IN of the TAS5825PEVM board and be used as source.

Is this possible to set up?

I tried yesterday but it didn't work. Is there any specific configuration that needs to be done to ether setup?
What I noticed on the PUREPATH-CMBEVM is that the red light that should be turned on inside the Opto-out connector was not on, indicating no digital output.

I had configured the PUREPATH-CMBEVM with TAS5825MEVM setup using Pure Path Console 3 as usual, I got audio output on the speaker terminal using USB input so the setup worked as normal.

Hell Zoltan,

Do you want to use the SDOUT from the TAS5825M? might be better to connect the I2S signals directly.
