TAS5806M: Communication problem with TAS5806M - ESP32 - PCM1808EVM

So you adjusted the the I2S control register word length and you not able to play audio? Can you provide a waveform or bus capture of the I2S input going into the TAS5806M?

Currently I don't have a waveform to display but if necessary I could get one.

I currently issue these commands to set the TAS5806M to 24 bit. I don't want me to do anything wrong with this:

tas5806m_write_byte( 0x00, 0x00) // page 0
tas5806m_write_byte( 0x7f, 0x00) // book 0
tas5806m_write_byte( 0x00, 0x00) // page 0
tas5806m_write_byte( 0x33, 0x02) // set 24 bit

I don't see an issue based on this script, If you try transmitting other size frames are you not seeing the same issue? Or is it exclusive to the 24 big. Also the waveform of the i2s input and clocks would be helpful.

Yes, currently, only setting 24-bit does not transmit any type of sound. If, on the other hand, I set both the 16-bit I2S ports (Port of the TAS5806M and port of the PCM1808EVM) the music starts to be heard in a distorted way and with a lot of noise.

Can you provide a waveform/bus capture of the I2S signal. Additionally, if you provide I2S signal directly from the SOC and configure the frame size do you still see the same audio artifact?

If I directly connect the i2s from the PCM1808 to the TAS5806M (setting it to 24 bit via the i2c of the ESP32) the audio plays perfectly. So surely it's a question of configuring the 2 i2s ports on the ESP32. 

I'm sorry but at the moment I still can't get hold of a waveform/bus capture of the I2S signal.

So to clarify it's only when configuring and using 2 I2S ports? if you use each I2S port individually there's no issue? Sounds like a limitation of your SoC.
