TAS2555: TAS2555 TAS2555_REG__WCLK1_GPIO2 Is being set to disabled

We are finding that the TAS2555 TAS2555_REG__WCLK1_GPIO2 (0,1,0x3e) register is reading back a value of 0x00 which corresponds to "0 0000: Disabled (Input and Output buffers powered down)".

The datasheet reports that the default value should be 0x01 which corresponds to Input Mode. We are reading the value after a Software Reset command. We are attempting to Write the value to a 0x01 and the read it back but it still reports back as a 0x01.

We are seeing no STICKY errors and the POWER FLAGs are reporting that the Amp is enabled (eg 0xF0 or 0xFC).

CORRECTION: In the above post - I meant to type: "We are attempting to Write the value to a 0x01 and the read it back but it still reports back as a 0x00"
