PCM5142EVM-U: 44.1 [KHz] Sample

Part Number: PCM5142EVM-U
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5101, PCM5142

Hi Team,

Can you please check the inquiry below?

Using PCM5142EVM-U, if you look at this schematic below, there is a signal called: WCLK and I read on the datasheet TAS1020B has the same sample rate that in Input. I'm using Audacity software where I send a sine of 10 [KHz] with a sample rate of 48 [KHZ] ( note: I'm not using ASIO4ALL). As you can see in this picture I can come to measure the signal.

On TP28 but unfortunately, the sample rate is ALWAYS the same as you can see.

always 44.1 [KHz] and by the way, I'm using CodecControl to control the EvalBoard with the code called: "PCM5101_USB Playback" I didn't modify the code.

Let me know if you need more information and thanks in advance.

Regards,

Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

The output of TAS1020 is what is called WCLK (TP28). This is the I2S output of TAS1020, I don't think the GUI can program the TAS1020 to change its output.

Anyway, the I2S from TAS1020 then goes to SRC chip and the output of SRC goes to the W3 pins (header in the middle with array of jumpers) . These jumpers connects the left side (digital interface) to the right side (DAC section).

You have the option not to use the jumpers for I2S and use the clks directly connect to right side of these jumpers. I myself  connect my I2S signals from AP to the LRCK, BCLK and DIN  on these jumpers directly .

The CODECCONSOLE recognizes my EVM as PCM5142 and based on my connection it configure it self and guides me on how to set the various jumpers.

Note if I change my configuration ( for example, I send my signals via optical cable, ) I need to click on the optical connection in the GUI and it guides me on the new  jumper set up. I included 2 screen shots for 2 different connection type, USB and Optical )\

  • Marvin, I will be out of office until Tuesday, so if you have any question, please  email me as I will not monitor this forum for few days. Thanks.

  • Hi Arash,

The CODECCONSOLE recognizes my EVM as PCM5142 and based on my connection it configure it self and guides me on how to set the various jumpers.

Can you tell me where to find CODECCONSOLE. I also sent you an email last week.

    Thank you.

    Marvin

  • Hi Marvin,

Sorry, I have not been in the  office and need to connect the board and read the full version of the software that I used.

From the screen shot I sent you , it is PurePath Console,   I will confirm the name and version today.

    Thanks for waiting.

    Regards,

    Arash

  • Hi Marvin,

I used PurePath Console V1.6 for this EVM and it automatically recognized it.

I close this thread but feel free to email me or open it if you have any questions.
