About the PCM1690, how to understand the register about AMUTE[3:0] if i choose the  0xxx Disable analog mute control by DAC disable command  

Which register is the target about DAC disable command  (MUTDA[8:1]??) or others?

  • Or DAC disable mean the register of Register 65 (Hex 41):  PSMDA?

  • Moreover the means of Register 65 (Hex 41) PSMDA Power-save mode on/off,if there is no signal(?dbfs) the DAC go into power save mode, and if  there is the signal ,DAC auto go into normal  operation mode? What is the trigger dbfs?

    Hello The following should clear your understanding of the operation and how the registers set a desired functions :

    AMUTE  is used to control the source(s) of detection for muting the part, ie what source  ( such as SCKI halt, or ZERO detect or ...)  would be used to trigger a MUTE.

    Now, when you want to mute the DAC , do you want to mute it right away or gradually( soft mute) ? This option can be set by  MUTDA . So  MUTDA is  used to enable or disable the Soft Mute function,  which gradually attenuated the output until it is Muted  (based on the steps or attenuation you choose).

    If soft mute is not activated  for a given channel,  the attenuator and DAC operate normally. When soft mute is activated for a given channel, then the digital attenuation kicks in and mute the part gradually to avoid pop noise.

    The Power save mode is like the following:

    In operation disable mode( that is when OPEDA is set to 1)  the DAC output is cut off from DIN and depending on the status of PSMDA,   the output of the DAC will be forced to go to GND or VCOM:

    IF  PSMDA=1,  Vout is forced to VCOM, DAC is not going into power down.

    but if PSDMA=0, Vout is pulled to GND and DAC goes into power down mode and saves  power.
