PCM2906C: LDO at VCCCI pin

Part Number: PCM2906C

Hi Team,

The datasheet mentions that VCCCI is an internal analog supply so I'm wondering why an LDO is added in Figure 36 of the datasheet.

It says this is a configuration for "High-Performance Application", so is it true that the device can accept external supply on VCCCI? Once the internal regulator detects an external supply, does it disable its output to VCCCI?

And how does this affect the device's performance?

Thanks!

Roy

  • Hello Roy,

Thank you for reaching out. Your understanding is correct the device can accept an external supply on VCCCI. The internal regulator will not be used in this state and does not output to VCCCI.

This is considered a "High-Performance Application" since using an external regulator will improve the THD+N of the device as shown in the datasheet below.

    Best,
    Andrew
