TAS5825M: Asking for TAS5825 SA design questions

Part Number: TAS5825M

Hi Team,

Customer would like to design TAS5825 for smart amp solution.

  1. TAS5825 did not has IV-sense. Do you have detail about how look ahead smart amp working mechanism?
  2. Do you have document for how to test speaker protection?
Would you please help review  questions and provide your comments?

Thanks for help!

1.without VI sense, we need to build the speaker excursion and thermal model first with the learning board which has the VI sense on it, then store them in dsp. device will used the model to estimate excursion and temperature. if the estimated value is larger than Xman and Max temp, the suppression will be applied.

2.we don't have the document now. about testing the protection, usually, we use laser to test the speaker excursion and play some severe signal with strong bass music to confirm whether it can be suppressed successfully under the Xmax.

about the temperature, we usually use the temperature sensor, put it close to the voice coil on the diaphragm to test the actual temperature to see whether it can be suppressed successfully.

    tks

  • Hi Jess,

    thanks for comment.

customer has three more questions and customer will follow E2E's comment directly by customer them shelf as well.

    1. regarding my experience, usually I took one golden sample to do the speaker modeling. what is your suggested for how many speaker use use for speaker modeling for speaker variation cover?

    2. what if one of the MP speaker TS modeling has larger variation, will that resulted in speaker damaged?

    3. what if the end-equipment temp is 10degreed high in environment, TAS5825 can only protect speaker based on modeling?

    1. at least 3pcs is necessary. usually, 6pcs would be better. also, samples should include corner samples.

    2. it might happen. so adding some suppression at AGL is also one solution to prevent this happen.

    3. if that 10degree high always exist, keep more margin at the limit would be ok.

    thks.
