Hi, TI support team
Please recommend a product that meets the conditions below.
- Overall performance: same or similar product as PCM1754
- I2S (SCK, LRCK, BCK, Dats) input level = 1.8V
Thanks.

MJ

Hello MJ,
You have different options such as PCM5101, PCM5102 and PCM1789.
While they all have better or similar major spec, PCM510x needs a single supply of 3,3v ( That is 3.3V analog and 3.3V digital supplies), PCM1789 needs dual supplies ( 5V analog and 3.3V Digital ) , where as PCM175x family is a single supply of 5 Volts . All of them are HW Control , I2S, and 24bit compatible.

Hi, Arash
This is an excerpt from the PCM1754 datasheet.
Can SCK, BCK, LRCK, DATA be input at 1.8V?
The datasheet describes it as follows.
Vin=Vcc
Thanks.
Regards,
MJ
Hi MJ,
Vcc ranges 4.5 to 5.5V and thus 1.8V is not acceptable. You need a level shifter to shift it to VCC.

Arash
Hi, Arash
Thank you for reply.
Can I use TSX0104E as level shifter that you said?
If not, please recommend me other product.
Thanks.

MJ
Hi, Arash
I asked you two condition for product.
- Overall performance: same or similar product as PCM1754
- I2S (SCK, LRCK, BCK, Dats) input level = 1.8V
Becuase PCM1754 cannot receive 1.8V signal, please recommend me product that satisfiy upper condition.
Thanks.

MJ
Hi MJ,
The PCM175x family are our highest performing DACs but they do not support a logic level of 1.8V. The PCM510x family has some lower performance but does support 1.8V logic level. The TSX0104E seems fine, but I would double check it with the team that are experts on that part.
Thank you,
Jeff McPherson
Hi, Jeff
Thank you for reply.
The PCM5100A appears to be capable of 1.8V input.
Is that right?
Is the product higher spec than the PCM1754?
Thnaks.
Regards,
MJ
Yes, PCM5100 is capable of 1.8V digital supply as Jeff mentioned above.
SNR, THD and DR are higher for PCM1754 but sampling freq is higher for PCM510x. In general you need to look at the datasheet for both of them and see what are the most critical parameters that you are interested and compare them.

Arash
