LM4865: Power consumption

Part Number: LM4865

Hi Team,

I am working in a battery powered application where power consumption is the critical that needs to be taken care, so can you please provide standby/sleep, typical and maximum power consumption values for LM4865 part

Regards,

Mythili B

  • Hi Mythili,

Could you provide what voltage you will supply to the chip? The quiescent current and max output power are dependent on the supply voltage.

    Thanks,

    Kian Fotouhi

  • Hi Kian Fotouhi,

The supply voltage will be 5V

    Regards,

    Mythili B

  • Based on Figure 11 in the datasheet, with a supply of 5V, the maximum power draw will be 1.4W (output power + dissipated power). This is with a load of 8 ohm, with 16 it would be approximately 0.9W and for 32 ohm approximately 0.65W. Figure 28 shows current draw relative to supply voltage, so for a supply of 5V, the current draw is approximately 4.8 mA resulting in a power draw of 24 mW. You may experience less quiescent current draw if you use the headphone sense (HP sense) feature. Typical power consumption would lie somewhere between the minumum 24 mW and maximum 1.4 W I've described here, you can refer to the various graphs in the data sheet to determine where you'll be operating the amp and what input power is required.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks
