TAS6424E-Q1: Minimum PVDD capacitance

Part Number: TAS6424E-Q1

Hi team,

PVDD capacitance is 220uF in recommended application circuit for 45W 2ohm.

In my use case output is only 10W/2ohm 2channel.

In that case, is how much I can reduce the PVDD capacitance?

I would like to use as high as 44uF.

Could you also advise which parameter or condition should I evaluate to find the minimum PVDD capacitance?

regards,

  • Hi Shinji.

You can choose the caps value of PVDD through below aspects:

    1.  If you use a boost or buck converter to power PVDD, you should promise the ripple of switching frequency and ESR(Caps) within your sepc's range, like total ripple should smaller than 1%PVDD to avoid output clipping.

    2. Some customers have some requirements about the time of shutdown drop.

On the basis of the above calculation, it is better to reserve a margin of 1.2-1.5 for caps's derating under high temp or high volatge.

    BR.
