TLV320ADC6120: VAD function

Hi team,

TLV320ADC6120 has VAD function. The datasheet states that the TLV320ADC6120 continuously monitors one of the input channels for voice detection. So when using VAD function, should we always configure one channel as for VAD only, and use another channel for sampling? For example, if we need 6 sampling channels in total, do we need 4* TLV320ADC6120 (1ch for VAD, 6ch for sampling and 1ch as not-used)?

Hey Kurumi,

Yes, the VAD works for one channel. You can select the channel using the VAD_CFG1 register once enabled. With the set up you just described, the TLV320ADC6120 supports 2 analog channels and 4 digital channels. Which ever set up you choose, only one channel would be used if VAD is enabled. So 4* TLV320ADC6120 = 8 analog channels, -1 channel for VAD and -1 channel not in use. So 7 channels would be in use if one is not being used while VAD is enabled.
