TLV320AIC3254: Audio front-end with Accoustic Echo Cancelation

In the context of a new project, we are developing a hands-free VoIP phoning system.

Our application processor is a Cortex M4 with an integrated IP stack but lacks the necessary processing power for echo cancellation.

I came across your audio front-end solutions, such as the TLV320AIC3254, which seem promising for our requirements. However, the wide range of products in this family is a bit confusing, and I'm unsure whether all "programmable minidsp" options support echo cancellation.

Could help in choosing a reerence that supports AEC ? Does TI provide AEC stack and support for these "mini DSP" ? Are there any royalties associated with their usage?

Hello Stan,

Thank you for considering our Audio CODECs. The TLV320AIC3254 and TLV320AIC3268 both have miniDSPs that can be configured for custom algorithms. However, the miniDSP is small and intended for simpler process flows. Larger processes, like Acoustic Echo Cancelation, tend to need a dedicated DSP and therefore TI CODECs with a miniDSP do not support AEC or have a "ready-made" solution. There is documentation for "Design of Active Noise Control Systems With the TMS320 Family". This would involve using a TI DSP. For more information, I would recommend making a thread with a part from the TMS320xxx family. So that the Digital Signal Processing team can provide further input.
