TLV320AIC3109EVM-K: TLV320AIC3109EVM-K

Part Number: TLV320AIC3109EVM-K

Dear Sir,

We ordered and received evaluation board TLV320AIC3109EVM-K.

The TI User’s Guide of the evaluation board relates to two delivering parts: the TLV320AIC3109EVM and USB-MODEVM Interface Board. Finally, we got an AC-MODEVM (LPA001A) board instead of the USB-MODEVM.

The EVM does not communicate with PC

Please your prompt assistance.

BR, Mark Y. Electronic Engineer.

  • Hello Mark,

    Thank you for reaching out.

To clarify, the USB-MODEVM Interface Board has been obsoleted and is in the process of being replaced by the AC-MODEVM (LPA001A). The documentation tends to lag behind until all the USB-MODEVM's are depleted from our stock. The AC-MODEVM (LPA001A) + AIC3109EVM combination is correct.

Let's start by checking that the EVM Kit is in the correct state as out of box. Please send a picture of your boards and a screen capture of device manager when the EVM is plugged in.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hello Andrew,

    Please find attached:

    BR,

    Mark.

  • Hi Mark,
Thank you for the board pictures.

Based on the pictures it looks correct. While I continue to review. Please let me know what version of windows you are using.

  • Hi Andrew,

    Please see below:

    Edition  Windows 10 Pro

    Version 22H2

    Installed on         ‎02/‎02/‎2021

    OS build               19045.3208

Experience         Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19041.1000.0

  • Hi Mark,

Thank you for the additional information.

Everything on the EVM looks to be in the correct initial state, and it looks like the OS is recognizing the EVM.  Can you share a clearer picture with the device plugged in? I would like to see if the Status LEDs come on.

By "EVM not communicating with pc" do you mean that the GUI won't connect, or is it some other issue?

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew,

The presets mode (quick start) are not functioning. When selecting preset modes or writing to registers via CLI the registers always show 0 at all registers after refreshing.

  • Hi Mark,

Since the GUI shows the "Bus Error" light, this suggests that the I2C write is not Acknowledged.

I would recommend monitoring the I2C bus on the EVM to see if the data packet is being acknowledged.

Also, please install the J4 jumper to the IOVDD - 3.3V position.

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew,

Following connection of J4 to 3V3 the board is working and we can hear wav file on headphones.

We can see the registers values and can refresh them.

Sometimes it’s not working and we need turn off and on the board or the GUI.

Whether an User’s Guide for the board coming soon?

    BR,

    Mark.

  • Hi Mark,

It sounds like the USB data connection might be getting dropped. Make sure your connections are secure. Also see if the problem follows a different USB cable or different machine.

The designer for the AC-MODEVM is out of office until next week. I can find out then if we have a user guide planned for this board.

    Thank you,
    Jeff McPherson
