TAS5822M: How to tune the EQ/Limiters on a speaker with the TAS5822M?

Hello there,

I have a speaker with a TAS5822M as an amplifier in the PCBa.

I have downloaded the PPC3 to my PC.

1- What cable do I need to purchase to connect my PC to the TAS5822M in the PCBa? there are a few test pins on the board for this purpose.

2- How can I tune it in real-time?

NOTE: I have experience with Sigma Studio DSPs which use the external iUSB debug cable to access it and run it in real-time.

Hello Ruben,

Refer to this guidance on the In-System Tuning feature. TAS5825M In System-Tuning.pdf

It says TAS5825M but the process is the same across all TAS58XX devices.

Hello Luis,

1-So I understand that we need to buy a dedicated TAS5822EVM, or could this be any TAS582X EVM? (Does the EVM need to be the same model as the AMP in our product?).

2-What is being referred to as PPCMB in Step1 on your PDF file?

3-Do you have the file that explains how to proceed with your tuning?

Hi Ruben

The TAS5822 EVM would be most suggested, especially you want to tune real time.

The PPCMB is the mother board, some of our EVM would need to use it together. But TAS5822 EVM needn't.

We have a document to guide you real time tuning your own board with the help of EVM.

Thanks Shadow!

Our target speaker doesnt have an analog Input and we need to run a continuous swept sinewave for measuring and tunning from REW.

Can we input this analog signal into the TAS5822 EVM, then wire the I2S output signal from the EVM to the speaker TAS5822 AMP inside the speaker?

Hi Ruben

On the TAS5822 EVM, PCM9211 device provide an analog input port, maybe could have a try. But honestly this port is seldom been used, we can't guarantee about it.

It would be better if you have equipment like AP could send I2S signal directly to you speaker.

And also could consider find one audio ADC device, and apply one EVM from ADC team, would be more easily.
