TAS5822M: Importance of 390uF capacitors

Hello everyone,

The datasheet recommends 390uF capacitors for PVDD stabilization. How important are these? The TAS5806 and TAS5825M don't need them and can run with 22uf MLCC caps. Could the TAS5822M do the same?

    Hello Severin,

    Bulk capacitance is dependent on your system case and output current needs. Typically the most common case where bulk capacitance would be needed is in a woofer configuration in PBTL but most of the typically application diagrams are pulled from our EVM schematics where we had the bulk capacitance on both channels to offer options of using the device in multiple configurations without additional modifications.

    You can remove this bulk capacitance if you don't expect alot of high current conditions that may result in voltage sag.
