SRC4193: Difference between hard mute and soft mute

Hi,

Could you please let me know any differences and any time constraints required between the the hard mute by using pin 14 and the soft mute via SPI port?
Additionally, is the hard mute function of SRC4192 and SRC4193 the same?

Hello Kato,

The soft mute function slowly attenuates the output signal level down to all zeroes plus ±1LSB of dither. This provides an artifact-free muting of the audio output port.

The soft mute function of the SRC419x device is invoked by forcing the MUTE input (pin 14) high or accessed using the MUTE bit in Control Register 1 forsrc4193. So either method will do the same result, one is hardware control and the other one software - but same in operation.

The mute function (pin 14) is the same for both parts.

I would like to know just in case, but could you please let me know "X" value in ( 1/fs * "X" ) / -0.5 dB [sec/dB] regarding the attenuation step?

Hello Kato-san,

I don't see this X explicitly it in the datasheet but usually this factor is 1 , that is -0.5 dB per sample time.
