TLV320AIC3262: 8-channel PCM processed by the miniDSP (TDM)

Part Number: TLV320AIC3262

Hello everybody,

i would like to confirm with your help if the TLV320AIC3262 is able to interpret 8-channel PCM connected to the Audio Interface 1 and processed in the internal minDSP with the help of Multi_Channel_Digital_In_1 and Multi_Channel_Digital_Out_1  and I2S_In and Out 2/3

This is how the eight channel coming from the master is sequenced (i have many possibility for the WORD CLOCK)

this kind of process :

What happen if the eight-channel are MONO ? the different mode described in the reference guide are STEREO (left/right)  I'm a bit confused with the chapter 2.9.5 in the reference guide.

So your advise would be greatly appreciate.

FYI, i've just ordered the TLV320AIC3262EVM-U to make some tests.

Thank you

Sebastien

  • Hi,

TDM is a single slot/channel configuration, if you have 8 slots in the frame, it means it has capability to support 8 channels. You can assign any of the slot to be the Left or Right channel as in stereo. The reference guide used stereo as an example so if you have stereo in the 8 slots TDM you can support 4 stereo pairs.

You can use each of the slot as mono which means you can support 8 mono channels and assign them to multiple codecs if needed.

Just watch the audio format that your host is sending since it supports the different formats shown in the sequence diagram above. The format has to match the codec supported format for example it supports the 1-bit clock frame or the I2S format frame, but not other frame length etc.

    Regards.

  • Hello pdjuandi,

    thank you for your answer.

yes i realized that Audio Interfaces support mono PCM modes even with multi-channel operation (§2.9.4 of ref guide), thanks to B0_P4_R1_D[7:5] = 100 for ASI.

i received my EVM, so i will run some tests.

    thank you

    Sebastien
