TPA6120A2: Quiescent supply current

Part Number: TPA6120A2

Hi Team,

My customer have a question about TPA6120A2.

The TPA6120A2  operates on single power supply with single end input. When A ferrite bead(300R/100MHZ ) are added to the output end , The   quiescent  current will reach 70MA (normal 20MA). Can you help analyze this phenomenon? The schematic is shown below.

Thanks and regards

  • Hi Eric,

I have a couple questions regarding the setup. When they remove the ferrite beads and replace them with a direct short are they seeing 20mA of iq? Also, if you do not put an input signal and probe the output for either channel, are they getting anything at the output (other than the dc offset) that might resemble some kind of oscillation? Would the customer be able to probe the outputs with and without the ferrite beads?

    Best Regards,

    Ignacio
