TAS5715: Will the TAS5715 work without MCLK ?

Hello Support,

We have quite a stock of TAS5715 available ...  We would like to use it as a slave with a 16Bit, 44,1KHz , Stereo I2S signal.  Can the TAS5715 run without a MCLK singal ?

Here what is in the Datasheet ?!

The TAS5715 checks to verify that SCLK is a specific value of 32 fS, 48 fS, or 64 fS. The DAP only supports a 1 ×
fS LRCLK. The timing relationship of these clocks to SDIN is shown in subsequent sections. The clock section
uses MCLK or the internal oscillator clock (when MCLK is unstable, out of range, or absent) to produce the
internal clock (DCLK) running at 512 times the PWM switching frequency.

    Hi Philipp

       I'm afraid the TAS5715 can't work well without MCLK.

       There's indeed a small oscillator inside of the device as datasheet describes. But it mainly been used to detect external clock, and keep some of internal digital circuit working when external clock not stable. But the device will still in the FAULT condition, until all the clock back to datasheet requirement.

      If we don't want to provide MCLK, I'll suggest to consider using TAS5825M device.
