TLV320AIC3262: Beamforming for Noise Cancellation

Hi,

We are using TLV320AIC3262 to interface to audio devices on a Video IP Phone product. Unwanted background noise pick-up is observed in the hands-free mode. Mono omnidirectional microphone, CUI's CMEJ-0627-42-SP, is connected to IN3L of the audio codec is used in the hands-free operation.

Does the audio codec device support beamforming? If yes, kindly guide on how this feature can be used. Please share details of any reference designs/boards available.

No, we recommend using external DSP for such application.

We found for application such as this when the customer starts implementing on their setup and added additional features and components, it ran out of this miniDSP memory resources. That's the reason we recommend using external DSP.

If the miniDSP is not used for any additional functionaliy, can we implement beamforming on the audiocodec?

You can use the components that are available to you in the PPS GDE. The document for the component is in the help panel, we do not have example nor reference design for this though.

Hello Peter, We are not having any other application on DSP, Please share details on using DSP for microphone beam forming. Using external DSP shall require board re-design. We can attempt trials using miniDSP for beamforming.

Here is the user guide for GDE which you can peruse and start your own flow/application.

The details of the components including beam forming are in the help menu.
