PCM6260-Q1: test guideline

Part Number: PCM6260-Q1

Hi Expert,

My customer would like to test SNR, THD+N, Dynamic range parameters on their PCB level with PCM6260-Q1.

May you kindly share some guidelines for these tests? And I also wonder that how can we measure the output signal performance since this is digital output? What kind of test equipments should have?

Thanks!

Ethan Wen

  • Hi Ethan,

You will need some type of audio analyzer, in our lab we use the APx series. We follow the guidelines shown in the third column of your screenshot to verify the specifications.

You monitor the output with the inputs shorted to GND/left floating or at -60dB (relative to full scale input) A-weighted. The sum of THD+N and output level is the specification provided.

  • Hi Daveon,

    Thanks!

Since the output of PCM6260-Q1 is digital signal, do you mean that APx555 can directly measure the SNR, THD+N parameters for digital signal?

  • Hi  Wen,

Yes, the APx555 can directly measure THD+N of a signal and digitally synthesize an audio signal or sine wave. We have various APx series devices that can help with audio measurements.

I also want to note that we verify the device specifications such as SNR and DR on the EVM before we release the device to ensure it is up to standard.

    Regards,
