We are the facing issues while integrating pcm3168a codec driver.

Target device and version details as follows:

Kernel version : - 4.19.35

CPU : - i.MX6Q

Based on https://bootlin.com/blog/eight-channels-audio-on-i-mx7-with-pcm3168/, we configured the device tree as follows

When I play sound with “S24_LE” format at 48000 sample rate, I’m getting the following error.

As per above error, I changed the mode to slave and right justified format. After that I’m getting the below error.

Hi Guy,

Take it easy. For your first issue, playback S24_LE and 48000Hz, in my view, audio framework will have the prerecession on the audio raw bitstream, and convert the data to S32_LE. Kindly you confirm whether aplay S32_LE 48kHz can work?

For the second issue, have you set the platform as master, after you set PCM3168A as slave? the log seemed from the platform side. it reported that the clk issue.

Hi,

For first time, In S32_LE 48kHz also not working.

[ 110.089913] fsl-esai-dai 2024000.esai: failed to derive required SCKT rate
[ 110.098556] fsl-esai-dai 2024000.esai: ASoC: can't set 2024000.esai hw params: -22

For second case:

I changed the format to right justified. (format = "right_j" --> In DTS) and commented the bitclock-master and frame-master properties.

Ex:

For the first case, have you set the MCLK for pcm3168? kindly add log in pcm3168a_set_dai_sysclk, let's check the return value and how much the clk is.

For second case, you must keep bitclock-master and frame-master, and assign the master one
