PCM2706: USB I2S UAC2.0 compatible?

Hello,

i need to build an USB powered Audio DAC that is capable of playing tones up to 32kHz. I figured out that the current USB Audio DACs from TI only support USB audio Class (UAC) 1, which  supports sampling rates of up to 48kHz.

Here, I was wondering if i could find a solution to converts audio from USB to i2S and feed this into an audio DAC. Is there any chip available that support UAC-2 that allows sampling rates higher than 48kHz?

    Hi Fabian,

    Most (or all) of our DAC EVMs that are currently in production use UAC2.0, and I see that the audio USB converters that are active on the website are UAC1, only supporting 48kHz. The older DAC EVMs that use the USB-MODEVM (the TLV320AIC/DAC devices) to connect via USB to the computer use the TAS1020B, which is unfortunately discontinued so they are hard to find, and the new EVMs (the TAD/TAC devices) that use AC-MB as the USB controller uses an XMOS chip. XMOS has a line of audio USB microcontroller chips that support UAC2.0 that you can check out. Unfortunately, TI does not currently manufacture any UAC2.0 USB converters. I would recommend using an EVM as a pre-built all-in-one design, or finding a USB UAC2.0 converter that can send I2S to one of our DACs and you could use the diagrams in the EVM user's guide to inform your design. Most of our DACs support high sample rates.
