PCM1681: No audio output

Part Number: PCM1681

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am using the PCM1681 in my design with an SCK of 12.28MHz, a BCK of 3.072MHz and a LRCK of 48kHz. I have the 24-bit audio data connected to the DATA1 pin and is provided in Left-Justified format. The DAC is configured to be used with an I2C ctrl interface. I can succesfully communicate with the DAC over I2C, but do not make any changes to the default config. I have verieifed all signals with an oscilloscope and everything looks as expected. However, i do not get any audio on Vout1 or Vout2. What am ìdoing wrong. What might cause this problem?

  • Hello Robrecht,

If you are using only two channels with data of 24bit depth and  Fs of 48KHz, then BCK has to be

BCK =  Ch. depth *  # of channels  * Fs    so for the above condition you have, it would give 2.30MHz for BCK.  The BCK=3.072MHz  that you are using is for 32 Bit.

If you modify it and still have any problems with it, send me the scope  screen shot of I2S including the edges of all your clks wrt to the data along with all registers values.

    Regards,

    Arash
