Hello,

We have bouhgt the TLV320AIC3254 EVM

and we are currently in the middle of the design the TLV320AIC3254 component

i would like to ask for a schematic review (Attached PDF also)

also i have few questions

1. 1.8V and 3.3V are externally powered (on another page)

2. I2C and I2S(WCLK,BCLK,DIN,DOUT) and etc... are connected to FPGA (on another page)

and a few questions:

1.How can i implemnt MONO sound? ( input and High power output)
do i need to short between L and R? or do i connect only R ?

2.how do i implement the headset detect?

3.what is the diffrence between Line Output and High power Output?

can i use only High power output?

4. How do i implement or connect here Volume Up/Down

Hi Amit,

1) Do not short left and right outputs together. If you want mono, just power down the right channel driver and use the left only.

2) See section 2.11.1 of the application reference guide

3) Line output is meant to drive higher impedance loads such as a transmission line or the input impedance of an amplifier. High Power outputs are meant to drive low impedance loads found in headphones like 16 or 32 ohms. They are completely independent, so if you want to use the HP output and not the LO output that is okay.

4) Voume Up/Down is done via I2C register writes. There are a few different places in the signal chain the volume can be controlled but the simplest is the "Digital Volume Control". This can be done on both the ADC and DAC side.

Hey Jeff,

thank you for the quick reply

when i use MONO i will use only the Left channel for input and Left channel for HP (HPL)

what should i do with the Right channel input? floating? or ground it?

and for the Right channel output? should i left it floating?

Hi Amit,

For Right channel input, AC couple to GND with a 0.47uF cap (or similar value)

For Right channel output, leave floating.

Hi Amit,

Yes this looks correct, however the resistors on IN2 and IN3 are not necessary.
