PCMD3180: Feasibility of PCMD3180 channel configuration

Part Number: PCMD3180

Tool/software:

Hello,

The PCMD3180 channel configuration is as follows. Please help check if the solution is feasible, thanks!

  • Hi,

As mentioned in the datasheet (Section 7.3.6), for sampling rates higher than 48kHz, there is a limitation on number of channels that can be sampled simultaneously (as per the TLV320ADCx140/PCMx140-Q1 Sampling Rates and Programmable Processing Blocks Supported application report).

As mentioned in the application report, at 192kHz sampling rate, the device can support a maximum of 3 channels to be sampled simultaneously, whereas in the above diagram there are 8 mics connected to the device.

One thing I observed in the diagram: In the BCLK computation (192kHz x 16bit x 8 slots), it is implied that the sampling rate is 192kHz, whereas LRCLK is mentioned as 16kHz. Can you clarify on whether the sampling rate is 16kHz or 192kHz?

    Thanks and Regards,

    Lakshmi Narasimhan
