TAS6424E-Q1: Handling global faults

Part Number: TAS6424E-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Please tell me how to handle Global Fault.
Which of the faults handled by Global Fault1/2 (0x11, 0x12) will automatically recover?
Also, please tell me about the behavior of the device and the register value in the case of automatic recovery.
First, I understand that the fault register is maintained until it is cleared according to the description below.

Global Faults 1 register
・INVALID CLOCK
I believe that it will automatically recover according to the description below.
If it recovers automatically, will the output recover while maintaining the fault flag?

・PVDD OV
・VBAT OV
・PVDD UV
・VBAT UV
I understand that the threshold has hysteresis, but I could not find any description of automatic recovery. Is Clear Fault necessary for recovery?

Global Faults 2
・OTSD
・CHxOTSD
I believe that it will automatically recover if OTSD AUTO RECOVERY (0x21,Bit3) is enabled. If it recovers automatically, will the output recover while maintaining the fault flag?

  • Hi Fukumoto

For simplify, all the fault you listed, the output will auto recovery, while fault flag still maintained. The fault flag always need to use Clear Fault to reset.

Output auto recovery, fault flag need to Clear Fault.

    Yes.

  • Hi Shadow

Thank you for your quick reply!

Is Clear Fault the only way to clear the fault flag?
For example, what happens when the following reset methods are used?
    ・POR
    ・RESET at Mode Control Register (0x00, bit:7)

  • Hi Fukumoto

    Only way recommended.

    ・POR

POR is power off, and restart.

    ・RESET at Mode Control Register (0x00, bit:7)

All of the register reset to the default value. Need to re-config.
