TPA3106D1: Measurement of sound pressure in dB at speakers

Part Number: TPA3106D1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320AIC3204,

Tool/software:

Hii TI,

I am working on a project that I need to measure dB in SPL at the speakers. I am using IMX6ULL processor, TLV320AIC3204 Codec and TPA3106D1 power amplifier. I am playing a 1KHz test tone in IMX6ULL processor and Measure the sound in dBSPL at the speakers. I set the HPL Driver gain to 10dB in the Codec and power amplifier gain is set to 36dB.

how much dB will I get at the Speakers.

Here one more point is that I need to measure the dB SPL levels at the Speakers from 60dB - 90dB by varying different gains at codec and power AMP. Did anyone have knowledge on this how to do calculations on this.

Regards,

N Eswara rao.

  • Hi N Eswara rao,

The SPL measurement is going to be dependent on what speakers you will use. You can do calculations for this using the Thiele-Small parameters or speaker sensitivity which you will need to get from the speaker manufacturer or measure yourself. Of course, you could measure the SPL directly as well using a mic.

    Regards,

    Ramsey
