TPA3255: SE and BTL with non-loudspeaker loads

Part Number: TPA3255

Tool/software:

I've seen other folks discuss using TPA3255 to provide variable controllable current to non-audio loads on the forums previously.

My question is not specific to TPA3255, but any of the TI multichannel integrated audio amplifiers with SE and BTL configuration options.

Am I correct that loads connected SE are really only driven by a half bridge, and therefore can really only source current to a connected load (as opposed to source and sink)?

Is it therefore correct that if you intend to source and sink current through your connected load you must use a BTL configuration (which would provide a full H bridge)?
