TLV320DAC3203: Line-In (MIC) to I2S

Part Number: TLV320DAC3203

Tool/software:

Hi,

we need an audio codec to convert analog audio data comming from/to a Smartphone headset jack to digital (I2S) data.

Therefore we have planed to use the TLV320DAC3203.

The speaker output of the Smartphone should be connected to the Line-In of the codec and send over I2s to the connected BT-Modul.

MIC data will come over I2S to the codec and then over HPR/HPL output to the MIC Input of the Smartphone.

Is this possible with TLV320DAC3203, or do you have any other device for our needs?

Is it correct, that the Line-In (INR and INL) will not be converted to I2S data?

  • Hello,

    The Speaker output from phone is an analog signal and if you want to digitally process it , you need an ADC to convert the analog input to digital (I2S) and process it  or send it as I2S to BT or etc. This IC is a DAC,  so it  takes a digital signal coming to it (Via I2S or digital mic) and converts it to Analog signal at the output. It also  has 2 analog inputs that is used to mix the result of the DAC operation  with this analog  input and send it out  as an analog signal ( like a karaoke)

    In another word, an analog signal can be routed from the analog input pin to the output amplifier. Neither the digital-input processing blocks nor the DAC resources are used for such operation;

    For what you want to achieve , I believe you need a true CODEC. Our CODECs are all labels as TLV32AIC3109 or out top of the line new CODECS TAC5xxx. this link gives you a complete list of our audio CODECs.

    If you need help with CODEC devices, please open a new post with CODEC in its title.
