TPA6111A2: Help on how to connect PCM5101A to TPA6111A2

Part Number: TPA6111A2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM5101A,

Tool/software:

Hi

I'm completely new to analog circuitry, I have connected a PCM5101A directly to a small speaker (250mW 8Ohm), which give way to low sound level.

Considering using the TPA6111A2 amplifier, but I'm just doing guesswork on how to connect the DAC output to the amp input. Both devices as powered by 3.3 v and a schematic showing the analog path (Left channel) from PCM5101A to the TPA6111A2 attached below.

Is it even close to correct?

  • Hi Mattias,

Your diagram looks OK for the connection between the devices.
I would suggest adjusting the value of R25 and C45 for a lower cutoff frequency, right now it is above 150kHz. Would be better to get it closer to 30kHz so that it filters much of the out-of-band noise and pass through only the audio content below 20kHz.

Regarding the device selection, note that TPA6111A2 is a headphone amplifier. Do you need to drive headphone speakers? If not, you may look into TPA62xx or TPA20xx amplifiers.
