PCM1681: Audio DAC EVM Availability?

Hi TI team!

I am looking for a 4+ channel DAC @ 192 kSPS that has an evaluation board but I am not having much luck.

I noticed a 7-year thread that says one was in the works:

I also see references to an EVM on the PCM1680/81/90 webpages.

Where can I get a multichannel DAC dev board?

Hi Chris,

At some point it was the plan to make it (as Paul mentioned in that post) however due to changing priorities and resources, it never happened . The user's guide in the product page, similar to that of PCM4104, is obsolete and is not available, but it was kept as a reference guide for schematics.

It is in our plans again to work on the EVM for PCM1691/81 this year . We haven't planned the timeline for it though.

Thanks for the update Arash! I need to evaluate something as soon as possible which will affect what part I choose. It is disappointing but can't be helped.

Can you suggest 2-channel DAC(s) where the silicon is closest to the PCM1691/81 and also has an EVM? Ideally where it would take minimal firmware changes to switch over to the PCM1691/81.

Hi Chris,

The other DAC that has close pinout is PCM1789 but that one has no EVM either.

Our new family of stereo DACs that has an excellent performance and has EVM would be one choice ( such as TAD5142 (HW) or TAD5212(SW)).

The other ( and much simpler) device that also has EVM would be PCM510x (HW) family or PCM5242/5121(SW).
