TPA3126D2: GAIN down by thermal fault

Part Number: TPA3126D2

Tool/software:

Hello,

Our customer has a question if TPA3126D2 gain is down by thermal fault.

When he tested his system, he can see TPA3126D2 output voltage down when FAULT=Low by thermal fault. Though he cehcked the datasheet carefully, that does not describe Gain down by theral fault event.

Could you suggest him if TPA3126D2 gain is down by thermal fault ?

best regards,

  • hi Toshiro

once device's thermal be triggered, the output will go to hiz mode.

here the "gain down" which customer means output hasn't went to hiz, small signal is still be outputted?

can customer confirm whether there is pwm waveform before LC fitler.

    thanks

    jesse

  • Hi Jesse,

Thank you very much for your help.

As I checked his test result carefully, this issue seems PLIMT works. The customer impute large amplitude wave i.e.1.8Vpp/200Hz and it reached to PLIMT 40W by 32db gain setting. TPA3126D2 keeps outputing waveform but the amplitude gets samller.

Would you happen to know if the gain should be down when PLIMT works.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Toshiro,

The gain is the same regardless of PLIMIT. The signal will be amplified the same amount, but will clip sooner,

    Regards,

    Ramsey
