DRV5825P: Do we have mono piezo driver supporting I2S input?

Part Number: DRV5825P
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5815, TAS2572, TAS2781, TAS2780

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Do we have mono piezo driver supporting I2S input? I only found DRV5825P stereo solution. Thanks.

Best regards,

Terry

  • Does TAS5815 support driving piezo? Piezo PN is KPTG1040, its spec is as below:

600ohm@40KHz(normal frequency), electrostatic capacity: 2400pF, max operating voltage: 40Vp-p

    Best regards,

  • Hi Terry,

You can technically use other Class-D digital input amplifiers, such as TAS2780/TAS2781 or TAS2572 to drive a piezo actuator. In any of these cases you must add an LC filter with proper saturation current (usually at least 4A) and a current limiting series resistor in the order of 3~4Ohms to avoid OCP trigger.

For the devices with speaker protection algorithm integrated, this feature must be disabled as it is intended only for dynamic/conventional speakers.
