TLV320AIC3104: MIC and GROUND reversed

Tool/software:

In the datasheet, figures 10-18 and 10-19, you have the ground and mic connections reversed.  I just measured 2 stereo headsets with mic.  An over the ear type and a pair of earbuds.  Both have the ground and mic reversed from your diagram.

    Hi Dave,

    The figures in the datasheet are assuming the OMTP standard for TRRS headsets. CTIA is the other standard for these connections and it is more common in the U.S., which is probably why you have found it to be reversed. The circuit works the same way, you just flip ring 2 and sleeve on the jack pinout.

    It would be helpful to update the datasheet to give this information.  Having to do PCB spins to correct stuff like this is costly and time consuming and totally preventable.
