Hi,

I am experimenting with the PPC3. One of the things I tried is to  use the equalizer. I can see that my gains and cutoffs are as per my changed filter settings.. The way I verified is to capture the speaker output for sweep signals and use the spectrograms as well as the waveform to check if the equalizer is working as expected.

Now I wanted to create a bin/header files for this equalizer settings. I created two projects one without the equalizer and one with the equalizer and are saved as no_eq.ppm and equalizer.ppm and then I went into the PPC3->End System Integration ->Dump Binary/Header files . I set the Application as Tuning mode, Sampling Freq to 48Khz,clock Configuration to Auto. Burst Size (128 Bytes ) and I2C slave address of 0x98 are keft untouched.

And then a snapshot is taken and then the binary and header files are dumped along with a bunch of cfgs. What I see is that except for the string names no_eq and equalizer there is no real change in any of the files generated. This is completely unexpected.

I would think that the no equalizer vs Equalizer the filter coeffs etc should get updated and hence the header files and binary files should have differences.

I am just wondering if the procedure to dump these bin/header files is correct.

Rajesh

  • Hi Rajesh,

Another way to do what you describe is to have a single PPC3 file with 2 snapshots, one of them has all the tuning while the other one has EQ and other audio enhancement features disabled. Then at End System Integration you can select different snapshots for each case.

Which files are you comparing to see the differences in tuning vs no tuning? Is it possible to share your PPC3 and output files?

  • Thanks. taking 2 snapshots has helped me. I was comparing all the files in the debug_cfgs, headers and also the  .bin,.json and the .ftcfg files generated

    Thanks

  • Hi Rajesh,

Understood, not clear why you were getting same files for different PPC3 files.
Good to know using snapshots has better results.
