AICPUREPATH_STUDIO: Confused by the decimated input module

Part Number: AICPUREPATH_STUDIO
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV320ADC3101

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am designing a DSP pipeline on TLV320ADC3101 using PurePath Studio, but I am quite confused by the relation between framework and the decimated input, on the help page it says "The first component of any process flow is the Framework.  After that the user may determine that interpolation and/or decimation filters are required in their design.  ", for TLV320ADC3101 there are two options ADC3x01 4x and ADC3x01 2x, the "corresponding" input sources are Dec4xIn and Dec2xIn, howevere in Pure Path there's one more option avaiable: Dec1xIn.

I would like to know if I have to chose the "matched" framework and decimated input soure, sya 4x to 4x, or I can use a different one like 4x for framework and 2x for the input source, and what does this Dec1xIn do? Can I also use it?

I would appreciate for any input.

Best,

Yucheng

  • Hi Yucheng,

The decimation amount depends on the desired sample rate, this has to do with the internal clocks and how the delta sigma converter works. If you right click the framework, you can access the help file for it, and it specifies which sample rates should be used with which decimation amount:

The 4x decimation should be used for a framework with 4x in it. So, yes they should be matched. There are other frameworks that are 1x, so this is where the 1x decimation comes from in the list of inputs/ouputs. The software is not very smart so it does not remove all options that would not work as expected with the hardware that you have.

    Best,
    Mir
