TPA3138D2: Audio Amplifier working on the Battery

Part Number: TPA3138D2

Hello,

I am working on a product which takes power from the Battery. I want to use Stereo speakers (1-3W each/Channel) .

During my search I found that TPA3138D2 support the stereo speaker. I want the lowest cost part which can pass easily in FCC/CE/UL certification so accordingly please suggest me the best suited part.

I want to use the amplifier part upto 3.5V input from the battery. so it should support this input range. It should support load from 2ohm to 8ohm/channel.

  • Hello,

Yes I'd recommend TPA3138D2 here. Note that 2 ohms is only supported though in PBTL mode which is a mono configuration of the device. This will be true for all of our amps I believe.

  • Hello,

Can I connect Headphone_L and Headphone_R to the Left and Right channel inputs with other input shorted to GND ?

How can I connect LineoutP and LineoutN with the amplifier input ? As far as I know Stereo (Left and Right) channel needs Left and Right channel inputs.

Do you have any amplifier which support input voltage upto 2.5V if I want to drive it directly from the battery ?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

Yes you can but you need a cap to ground as well. See below image as reference.

Lineout P and N can be connected differentially rather that coupling one input pin to ground.

I don't know of any analog input stereo parts that can support this low level battery voltage.
